Hot Liquor Tank
The original boil kettle (which was a 13.3 gal keg) was converted into the Hot Liquor Tank. I added a thermometer, a site tube and ½" ball valve to the keg. The thermometer was a "Weldless Thermometer" from Beer, Beer and More Beer. The site tube is pretty basic, here's the bottom connection. The top is attached with a small nut and bolt. The 1/2" copper elbow is just used as a stand-off. I did screw up when mounting the site-tube. I accidentally put it right above one of the holes at the bottom of the keg. The first time I went to heat some water in the HLT I melted the site tube. So I scrounged around and found this thing, which is sorta like a fender washer. It's held in place by a big screw, anyway, it worked. I just changed the plastic tube and was back in business. This is the inside of the HLT.
